Baillon[3] designated as Canangium the section of the genus _Uvaria_, from which he would not separate the Ilang-ilang tree.
From _Uvaria_ the _Cananga_ differs in its valvate petals, and from _Unona_ in the arrangement of the seeds in two rows.
