Sentences with TUSSEH (3)
Tusseh silk or, as some term it, "Tussore," is spun from the silk of the perforated cocoon of the tusseh-moth.
Cresson, Mss.] These moths may yet become valuable for the production of a kind of silk, as they are enclosed in large cocoons, the fibres of which surpass those of the Silk-worm in strength, and might be employed in the formation of fabrics, similar to those manufactured in India from the Tusseh and Arrindy Silk-worms, the strength and durability of which are proverbial.
The former, which is commonly called tusseh silk, is woven into a coarse and dark-coloured kind of cloth, called _tusseh dooties_, much worn by the Brahmins and other sects of Hindoos.
