Like _tic-douloureux_, its sensation is a curiously fluctuating one, as if pain had been _fluidized_ and poured in trickling streams through the tubules of nerve tissue which are affected by it; but, unlike that, it affects every tubule in the human body--not a single diseased locality.

About six months after the operation the testis left _in situ_ was smaller, the seminal tubules contained few spermatogonia, though Sertoli's cells (cells on the walls of the tubules to which the true spermatic cells are attached) were unchanged; while the interstitial cells were enormously developed, by compensatory hypertrophy in consequence of the removal of the other testis.
When it succeeded, however, degeneration of the seminal tubules took place, with increase of the interstitial or Leydig's cells.
