Its name is said to be part of an Indian word, _neequee-antigo-sebi_, meaning "evergreen." ANTIGONE, (1) in Greek legend, daughter of Oedipus and Iocaste (Jocasta), or, according to the older story, of Euryganeia.
These amulets recognized the Messianic claims of Sabbatai Sebi (q.v.), and a famous rabbinic contemporary of Eybeschütz, Jacob Emden, boldly accused him of heresy.
One branch of this sect (thence called the Seveners--_Sebiïn_) closed the series with Ismaïl, the grandson of Mohammed Bakir, the _seventh_ imam, reckoning Ali himself the first.
