Having regard to these points, the writer is inclined, for the present, to consider _Aggregata_ as an offshoot rather from the Coccidian than from the Gregarine branch of the Ectosporan tree.
Another parasite of lymphatic spaces and channels is the remarkable _Lymphocystis_, described by Woodcock (46), from plaice and flounders, which in some respects rather recalls a Gregarine.
These exceedingly small germ-cells afterwards develop into the very different, adult gregarine-cells.

Redi (1684) is said to have been the first to observe a Gregarine parasite, but his claim to this honour is by no means certain.
