Etym: [See Fasciole.] (Anat.) Defn: A band of gray matter bordering the fimbria in the brain; the dentate convolution.
However, fasciole 14 of the AAS for 1930 emended the text and seems to have withdrawn the formal condemnation of punitive sterilization.
Beneath the periproct there is a similar band called the "sub-anal fasciole"; this probably produces a current of water which sweeps away the material ejected from the anus.
The former possesses only a sub-anal fasciole, and has specially long curved spines on the ventral plastron.
From observations made on specimens kept in confinement it appears to burrow only so far as to leave the petals uncovered; hence there is no need of a peripetalous fasciole.
