But, according to Ṣubḥ-i-Ezel himself, there was a time when he had in his hands the destiny of the bodies.
There is, however, another version of Ṣubḥ-i-Ezel's tradition; it has been preserved to us by Mons.
One is 'The Gate.' Those who regarded 'Ali Muḥammad of Shiraz as the 'Point' of prophecy and the returned Imâm (the Ḳa'im) would naturally ascribe to his representative the vacant dignity of 'The Gate.' Indeed, it is one indication of this that the Ṣubḥ-i-Ezel designates Mullā Ḥuseyn not as the Gate's Gate, but simply as the Gate.
The fire, however, as the Bābīs relate (for Ṣubḥ-i-Ezel corroborates the _Parikh-i-Jadid_ in this particular), refused to burn the holy remains; and so the Sa'idu'l-'Ulama gave orders that the body should be cut in pieces, and these pieces cast far and wide.
