BIBIRINE, or BEBEERINE, C19H21NO3, an alkaloid obtained from the bark and fruit of the greenheart (q.v.) tree, _Nectandra rodiaei_, called _bibiru_ or _sipiri_ in Guiana, where the tree grows.
The Indian name of the tree is _sipiri_ or _bibiru_, and from its bark and fruits is obtained the febrifuge principle bibirine.
