Rounded or irregular red elevations will often be seen on the posterior wall of the pharynx, outgrowths of adenoid tissue in this region.
Mouth Breathing.--Little ones who habitually breathe loud or snore in their sleep may be troubled with an adenoid growth.
Among the diseases which can be remedied by slight means are enlarged tonsils and adenoid growths back of the nose, both of which can be removed by a slight and almost painless operation, but which, if allowed to develop, often cause serious throat and lung troubles, deafness, and weakened minds.
Sleeping with the mouth open and the head thrown back often attends chronic enlargement of the tonsils and the presence of adenoid growths in young children, although it may be seen in other affections which make breathing difficult.
ADENOIDS Adenoid growths appear as grape-like lymphoid formations located in the upper and posterior-nasal pharynx.
