The principal ruin is that of the Ziggurat, or temple tower, which in 1850 was 100 feet high and 200 feet square.
They made the ziggurat[1] [to reach] the celestial Ocean; unto Marduk, Enlil, Ea [shrines] they appointed, [Footnote 1: This is the word commonly used for "temple-tower."
