Sentences with SORUS (5)
Sorus or Sour was a hermit, born about the year 500; he set off with two companions, Amandus and Cyprian, to find a desert place where he might take up his abode.
This occasionally happens from the elongation of the normally placed sorus, which thus extends to the margin, and returns on the upper side, when the sori chance to be placed opposite to the marginal crenatures.
Commonly the spore-cases occupy only detached spots or lines, each of which is called a SORUS, or in English merely a Fruit-dot.
Sori linear, confluent in pairs, each pair appearing like a single sorus with a double indusium opening down the middle.
Indusium convex, fixed by a broad base partly under the sorus, commonly reflexed as the sporangia ripen.
